這首歌收錄在 America 合唱團 1984 年推出的 Perspective “A perspective from America” 專輯中
以前原版錄音帶(當時叫它 A 版)很少
版權觀念也很薄弱, 更不要說法律保不保護了
在唱片行一般可以買到的都是所謂 “原版 A 拷” 的 B 版錄音帶
或是把時下最流行的歌曲收在一張錄音帶中, 以各種名目推出
如 Billboard 排行, 流行廣告配樂歌曲, 余光音樂雜誌熱門排行等等
開始喜歡上西洋歌曲是國二那年暑假
還記得當時聽的就是一張廣告配樂
裡面有普騰電視的廣告配樂, 金車麥根沙士的 Days of Summer (By Topaz) 等等耳熟能詳的歌曲
在當時, 不知道這些已經被歸類到老式情歌之流
只知道打開電視, 偶爾就可以聽到幾秒鐘這樣的歌曲是很不過濾
會發現這首歌, 是來自於大一學時代買的一卷 B 版錄音帶
當時英文能力不太好, 聽力更差
但 B 版錄音帶附的歌詞實在不敢茍同
於是, 找上英聽老師, 一個很 lovely 的老外
拿著 Tape 跟本子要她幫忙聽寫
就這樣, 她把歌曲聽寫下來給我
為的是大一下學期即將開始的的那段純純又蠢蠢的愛情故事
而我回報她的, 是一隻自己親手用樹葉折的 grasshopper
可惜的是這麼多年下來,
早已經忘了 grasshopper 是怎麼折出來的
就像我已經淡忘的曾經的那一段故事
